Email Scams Abound

Cybercriminals are always looking for creative new ways to defraud people out of their personal information. And, now they are going after LAUSD families!

Parents and guardians at some of our schools have reported receiving text messages that are scams. For example, one ask parents to take a survey to be entered in a raffle for $1000.  Make no mistake: this is a scammer posing as the District in an attempt to gather personal information that can be used to steal identities.

Please be extra cautious when opening emails, texts, and other messages that don’t seem quite right. When in doubt, it’s always a good idea to contact the sender and ask ‘is this really from you?’
