School Governance
It takes a group effort to provide a safe, nurturing, and academically rigorous learning environment. Multiple committees provide oversight over virtually all aspects of our school. Northridge Academy High School utilizes the following leadership councils to guide school decisions:
- The School Site Council (SSC) has purview over significant amounts of Federal categorical funds, and is governed by a council of which parents, community members, and students comprise half of the membership.
- The School Leadership Council (SLC) governs employee training, student schedules and designated local budgetary matters, and is governed by a council in which parent and community representatives comprise one third of the membership.
- The work of the Instructional Leadership Team (ILT) is primarily instructional, focusing on student learning and achievement and coordinating the improvement of instruction in the school based on data and the team is comprised of department chairs, academy leads and school administration.
- The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is comprised of parents of English Learners (LEP) and parents of students who reclassified within the last two years. This commitee provides recommendation to the School Site Council regarding programs, initiatives and expenditures that support English Learners.
Parent and student participation is critical for the successful operation of these councils and commitees. If you are interested in serving as a a member of any of the three that include parents, please click on the link on the right to find out more information about it.
